Tom Maxin 2011 Moon Hockey Alumni Game

will be held on Wednesday, December 28th from 8-10pm.

 This annual event is held in honor of Thomas P. Maxin, Jr., who played for the Tigers in the early '90s and served on the coaching staff from '99-01.  Tom passed away unexpectedly in January, 2006.  His son, Jared is currently a member of our Freshman team.

   Registration is $40 per skater and includes buffet and refreshments. 

Participation is open to anyone interested. 

Admission to watch is free.  Buffet tickets can be purchased for $15 at the door.

MAHA 1st Annual Skate-a-Thon

On Wednesday, December 28^th, 2011, the Moon Area High School Senior Josh Bioni, along with the MAHA’s Varsity Hockey team will be hosting a “Skate for a Cure” Skate-a -Thon at Airport Ice Arena between 5-7pm.  The Skate-a-Thon is to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and is the major fundraiser for Moon Area Hockey’s Outdoor Charity Series Game against North Hills, scheduled for 6:30pm on January 13^th, 2012 at the North Park Outdoor rink.

 Josh Bioni is taking on the OCS Hockey Game, along with the Skate-a- Thon and MAHA’s Annual Alumni Game as his senior project.  Skate-a-Thon participants are required to obtain sponsors to pledge either a “per lap” amount or a flat donation for the event.  Skate rentals, pizza and refreshments will be provided free of charge.  Also, there will be multiple prizes that all participants will be eligible to win.

 There is a $10 minimum pledge to participate.    

This is for a great cause and all of the proceeds will go straight to Juvenile Diabetes Research.  Every pledge you sign up and every lap you skate will make a difference!  Everyone is welcome!

 All pledges will be collected at the registration desk at Airport Ice Arena on the day of the event, Wednesday, December 28^th, 2011 from 5-7pm.  Hope to see you then!  

Practice Schedule

Practice for all teams will begin on 9/11, with each team practicing on full ice for 1 hour. We will use the following schedule throughout the season;

5:30-6:20pm- Little Tigers
6:30-7:20pm- Freshman/Freshman II
7:30-8:20pm- JV/JVII
8:30-9:20pm- Varsity

 Wednesday Varsity (50min) and Varsity/JV (1hr 20min) schedule TBD, pending AIA ice availability.

Monthly Board Meeting

MAHA Board of Directors will meet the first Sunday of each month at AIA.

6:45-8:00pm- Closed/Working meeting- Board Members Only

8:00-9:15pm- Open/Association meeting- All Association Members encouraged to attend

MAHA Little Tigers Program

Moon Area Hockey Association's Little Tigers  is open to all players in entering grades 1-5.

JV Team - PIHL Champions!

Your Moon JV Tigers bring home a Championship Banner!  The JV Tigers ended their season in style this past Sunday, with a 3-1 victory over the Shaler Titans to win the PIHL S&T Bank JV FR Tournament Championship! Finishing the season with a record of 7-11, the Tigers were lowest seed, #8 in their play-off bracket.  Finding their confidence in the post-season, they held their opponents to a total of 4 goals in the tournament, defeating #1 Cannon Mac, #5 Hempfield and #7 Shaler on their road to victory!  Congratulation, Tigers on your Banner Season!
